Emma Garfitt is a Partner in the firm’s Landlord Financing & Conveyancing team. She has over 20 years’ experience in residential property, with particular expertise in the Buy to Let sector. Emma has advised property investors on acquisitions of HMOs and MUFBs, refinancing, and complex portfolio transactions.
Emma is the firm’s Learning & Development Manager. She leads training across the Landlord Financing & Conveyancing team, helping to embed technical excellence, consistency of approach, and best practice in a fast-evolving market.
Emma is also responsible for shaping the firm’s overall training and development strategy, overseeing the progression of trainee solicitors and apprentices, supporting colleagues undertaking professional qualifications, and designing the firm’s early-career development framework. Through this, she ensures clear and structured development pathways while helping to nurture the firm’s future talent.
Emma began her career in conveyancing before moving into academia in 2004 as a Senior Lecturer in Land and Property Law. During this time, she completed an LL.M in Commercial Property with distinction, co-authored a land law textbook, and published in leading legal journals. She returned to private practice in 2018, joining Blacks, where she now combines her academic insight with practical expertise.
